Welcome to the Nordic Public Transport 2016 conference in Helsinki on 15-17 June 2016

This year, the theme is “Services at the Right Time – In real Time”. Theme reflects the fact that we are very well aware, that passengers have the right to expect good quality services at the right time on the basis of modern real time information systems. And, of course, ticket prices must be attractive and costs reasonable. This year, the conference approaches these issues from various angles highlighting the latest achievements and development ideas.

By combining the two traditional conferences, NLTM and InformNorden, as first done in Reykjavik 2010, we aim to increase the range of lectures and discussions.  In addition, we acknowledge that, in passengers’ eyes, the production of services including planning, quality, vehicles, information and ticketing systems, etc. are inseparable elements.

The language of the conference will be English.

After plenary sessions, there are two or three parallel sessions, one dedicated for information and ticketing issues under InformNorden, with the other two being NLTM sessions focusing on different themes ranging from environmentally-friendly transport and competitive tendering to new planning methods and vehicle technology.

The conference venue is Finlandia Hall, a famous architectural monument, conference and concert hall located in the heart of Helsinki. All exhibitions, both indoor and outdoor,  are also held there.

Finlandia Hall is located 500 meters from the Helsinki Central Railway Station, near the Parliament House and opposite the National Museum. Around the venue there is a beautiful park, several restaurants and a range of hotels.

The indoor exhibition is excellently located right next to the lecture halls in the center of the lunch and coffee break area. The outdoor exhibition for vehicles will be in front of the Finlandia Hall. The outdoor exhibition will be open for both conference delegates and the public.

On behalf of the NLTM and InformNorden Programme Committee and Helsinki Region Transport, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Helsinki. I wish you to enjoy these inspiring three days with us!
